Our Techniques

Our chiropractic professionals employ a wide range of proven techniques for each individual case. Below, you’ll find a brief explanation of the popular chiropractic techniques we use at our practice.

Diversified Technique is usually considered the basic chiropractic treatment.  It includes evaluation of the entire spine with manual, hands on treatment.  Dr. England uses this technique to personalize his approach to each patient.

Activator Method

Some patients prefer a more mild adjusting technique, and that is why Dr. England offers the option of an gentle adjusting tool.  This is called an activator and it provides a small, gentle impulse to adjust the spinal segments.

Flexion Decompression

Also referred to as Cox Flexion-Distraction, this technique involves table motions that decompress the discs of the spine to promote healing.  It also helps to stretch and relax the mucles of the spine.

Trigger Point and Massage Therapy

The primary purpose of trigger point and massage therapy is to reduce the pain that results from hypersensitive muscles. Trigger points are identified by gently pressing on the surface of the skin, sensing the texture of the underlying muscle.

A trigger point is like a knot the size of a pea, buried deep in the muscle tissue. It is made up of lactic acid, a normal byproduct of muscular activity, which sometimes gets trapped in the muscle from physical, chemical or emotional stress.

Massage therapy helps to relax the muscles and promote healing.  It can be involve the whole body or small, targeted areas.

Drop Table
This technique makes use of specialized drop-piece mechanisms in the table to assist the adjustment. Individual cushions or "drop pieces" located along the table support each area of the spine until the thrust is given. Then, each drop-piece gently gives way, reducing the pressure needed to move a specific spinal segment.
